KL Hokkien mee is not the Penang soup, do not mix them up. This is the dark, glossy, thick yellow noodles wok fried in dark soy sauce and a serious amount of pork lard, finished with those crispy lard cubes everyone fights over. That lard is the whole flavour and the whole calorie problem. A plate is around 720 calories with 37g of fat, most of it pork fat.
It is one of the heaviest single plates of noodles you can order in KL, right up there with char kuey teow. Shiok? Absolutely. Everyday food? No way bro. Make this the treat meal of the day and keep everything else light, and you can still enjoy it.
