510kcal / 1 plate (dry)

The real talk

Wantan mee is quietly one of the better choices when you are trying to be good but still want noodles. The dry version is tossed in a bit of sauce and oil, not drowned and fried like char kuey teow. The char siu and wantan give you real protein, around 25g, for a moderate calorie count. That protein to calorie ratio beats most hawker plates.

Two things to watch. The char siu can be fatty and sweet, and the fried wantan (as opposed to soup wantan) adds oil. But compared to CKT or mee goreng, this is a smart order. If a stall does a soup version, that is lighter again.

Common questions

Is wantan mee good for weight loss?
It is one of the better hawker noodles for it. At about 510 calories with 25g of protein, the protein to calorie ratio beats most fried noodle dishes. The soup version is lighter still.
How much protein in wantan mee?
About 25g, mostly from the char siu and wantan. That is a good amount for a noodle plate.
Is dry or soup wantan mee lower in calories?
Soup is a bit lower because the dry version is tossed in extra sauce and oil. Both are reasonable choices though.
