This is one of the lighter street snacks in Korea because it is baked in a mould, not fried. The batter is flour, sugar, egg and milk, about 75 calories per fish, and the 20g of red bean paste is 35. At 110 per piece it is less than half a hotteok. The problem is only that nobody buys one.
The bag of 3 is 330 calories, the same as a bowl of tteokbokki, and the fresh ones go down in about 2 minutes. The cream custard version (슈크림 붕어빵) is a little higher at around 130 because the filling has butter and egg yolk, and the ingeoppang (잉어빵), the shinier cousin with oil in the batter, runs about 150 per piece.
Convenience store and frozen bungeoppang are heavier. Ottogi's frozen red bean version is 165 for a 60g piece because the batter is richer, and Orion's snack pack fish is 121 for just 29g. If you want the 110 calorie number, it has to come off a cart.
