Ais krim potong is the frozen treat you grew up eating from a styrofoam box at the school canteen or from a guy on a bicycle. It is a block of flavoured ice cream frozen on a stick, made with coconut milk, sugar syrup, and whatever filling goes in it, red bean, corn, pandan, or durian. At 80 calories a stick, it is actually one of the more reasonable desserts you can have. The calories come mainly from sugar (40 cal from sweeteners) and santan (17 cal). Durian is the only one you need to watch, at 110 cal per stick, because durian puree adds real density.
The math changes almost entirely by flavour choice. Red bean potong sits at 70 cal and the red bean filling actually adds a bit of fibre. Corn is 80 cal. Coconut is 85 cal, slightly richer santan base. Durian is 110 cal. So if you swap your durian stick for a red bean one you save 40 calories, which is real. Portion size also matters because some artisan or pasar malam versions are bigger than the standard 65g bar. A 90g homemade-style potong could easily be 120 cal. Stick to the individually wrapped commercial ones if you want predictable numbers.
